Beans, beans, beans

I feel like I'm on a wagon train, a cowboy camp out, or a cattle drive with all the beans I've been eating morning, noon, and night. On Friday I had what turned out to be a gallbladder attack and ended up in the ER. The pain was really bad! My sister told me that if I will eat beans several times a day for the next few weeks it will get rid of the gallstones and help my gallbladder get better. Something about the soluble fiber... So I have been eating beans for 3 days. This is not an easy thing to do. Pintos are not so appetizing first thing in the morning...and then for lunch...and then for a snack....and then for dinner...

Apparently, these attacks are rather common during pregnancy and especially around the 12 week mark when the placenta kicks in and there is some kind of hormone dump into the mom's system. Sometimes this can clog up the gallbladder. As my sister put it, the beans are little scrubbers that go in and clean everything out.

So what's on the menu here at the chuck wagon? That's right! You guessed it, partner. Beans. Beans as far as the eye can see. Yee-haw.

  1. If only beans worked for the pain of childbirth. :)

  2. If beans worked to ease the pain of childbirth we'd have delivered all our babies with a bean burrito in each hand.
